3e Salon des Instruments et Curiosités Scientifiques

Last weekend I went to check out the antique scientific instruments and curiosities fair at the Musée des arts et métiers. There were 27 dealers from around Europe exhibiting a wide range of objets – from sextants and planetaria to glass eyes and pretty much everything in between.

I didn't have the time to sketch as many displays as I'd have liked, as some of the instruments, while fascinating, were very complicated indeed. So I stuck with this (mainly) anatomical corner, that was the "easiest" for me...

The show was for two days, but I couldn't make it until Sunday, when things were fairly quiet around lunchtime - noon. I spoke with one of the dealers, who told me that there had been a good crowd for the opening the day before. That might have made it more difficult for me to sketch, but I can't help wondering what kind of items I'd missed!
