St. Paul de Vence

Terrace and view

Had the superb pleasure of being invited (!) to St. Paul de Vence on the Côte d'Azur for a week. The house was simply perfect and we all fell in love with it. With its terraces and different levels, every corner offered a comfortable and quiet place to sit, but I ended up spending most of my time here, on one of the main terraces leading to the living room, with a view of the valley and the village of St. Paul below.

View from Café de la Place

The fountain of Saint Paul de Vence

I managed to get out early enough to have a head start on the tourists. A coffee at the Café de la Place, then a nice stroll through the old town, past their famous fountain.

The Fondation Maeght was just up the road (!). I was lucky to catch a great Eduardo Chillida retrospective, and the setting couldn't have been more ideal. The building was made to house exhibitions like these. I ended up enjoying the space and the show so much that I lost myself for a while, and only managed to get this one sketch in from a bench in the Labyrinth by Miro.

The dining car

Finally, one last quick and crazy sketch on the TGV heading back to Paris. And that was it - a wonderful week in which time almost stood still, which was over all too soon! Thank you so much T&P XXOO!!
