Beliza had met Tula at the USk BCN Symposium last summer, so when she came to Paris to see some exhibitions this month, Tula offered her a place to stay. Tula also posted a message to our Paris Sketchers group suggesting we get together for a Drink and Draw, and no sooner said than done there we were, about a dozen of us at the bar of the Café de l'Industrie, sketching away!
Tula was very inspired by Kiah Kiean's demo in Barcelona, and has been carrying around with her a little bottle of ink and —well not a twig exactly, but the next best thing— a chopstick(!) to draw with. (For more on Kiah Kiean's wonderful tools and methods, check out his pdf here.) It looks like so much fun, so I asked Tula if I could give it a go. The sketch above is the result.
It was a great evening, thanks to everyone who could make it. Also thank you Tula for letting us know that Beliza was in town, and for letting me draw with your chopstick!
Visit Beliza's blog here to read more about her weekend in Paris, and to discover her art. You can also see Tula's Flickr stream here for more chopstick drawings, including some very interesting dinosaur sketches.
To see other drawings from the evening, check out this little gallery here. And if you're planning a visit to Paris, please be sure to let us know via our Paris Sketchers group or by mail, we'll be more than glad to welcome you!
